چکیده

were used to compare differences between and within groups. Results: In our study, adolescents with CFS stayed in bed longer and had a significantly delayed mid sleep time during work days compared to the healthy controls. Further, adolescents with CFS also scored significantly worse on insomnia (mean 3.4 vs 4.9), sleepiness (mean 3.7 vs 5.0) and awakening problems (mean 2.5 vs 4.9) on KSQ. Moreover, they report longer sleep onset latency than healthy controls (mean 75 min vs 31 min). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that adolescents with CFS subjectively have more insomnia-, sleepinessand awakening symptoms than their healthy peers. Objectively we found a sleeping pattern that indicates delayed sleep rhythm. Disclosure: Nothing to disclose.

Effect of Acute and Chronic Heat Exposure on Frequency of EEG Components in Different Sleep-Wake State in Young Rats

The recent literatures indicate that central nervous system (CNS) is highly vulnerable to systemic hyperthermia induced by whole body heating on conscious animals. In the present study, cerebral electrical activity or EEG (electroencephalogram) following exposure to high environmental heat has been studied in moving rats. Rats were divided into three group (i) acute heat stress-subjected to a s...

Prevalence and Patterns of Sleep Disorders in Diabetic children referred to Endocrine Clinic of Ali Asghar Hospital

Background: Sleep is a transient altered level of consciousness, relative suspension of sensory perceptions and inactivation of voluntary muscles during rest.It has important role in the quality of life. Some chronic diseases such as Diabetes mellitus type 1(T1D)are accompanied with sleep disturbances which may lead to poor glycemic control. Our study was conducted to investigate sleep disorders...

Changes of the brain’s bioelectrical activity in cognition, consciousness, and some mental disorders

Background: An electroencephalogram (EEG) is an accepted method in neurophysiology with a wide application. Different types of brain rhythms indicate that simultaneous activity of the brain cortex neurons depend on the person’s mental state. Method: we have focus on reviewing the existing literature pertaining to changes of the brain’s bioelectrical activity that recorded from the ...

USEFULNESS OF SLEEP-DEPRIVED EEG IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF SEIZURE DISORDERS IN CHILDREN

The provocative effects of sleep deprivation (SD) on patients with seizure disorder and on the electroencephalogram (EEG ) are well known. The purpose of the study was to test its routine use and usefulness in the pediatric and adolescent age group with, or suspect of having, seizure disorder, especially those presenting with first unprovoked seizure. Between September 2000 and November 20...

Electroencephalographic profiles for differentiation of disorders of consciousness

BACKGROUND Electroencephalography (EEG) is best suited for long-term monitoring of brain functions in patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC). Mathematical tools are needed to facilitate efficient interpretation of long-duration sleep-wake EEG recordings. METHODS Starting with matching pursuit (MP) decomposition, we automatically detect and parametrize sleep spindles, slow wave activit...
